Welcome to Holland Farms

Holland Farms is Norwalk’s newest senior living community. We opened our doors in May 2021. We’re pleased to offer Carefree Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care all in one beautiful community. Located in Norwalk, IA, right next to Elizabeth Holland Park, Holland Farms provides easy access to walking trails and great views of the Echo Valley Country Club and the Des Moines skyline.

Jaime Paca

Senior Living Consultant

A Norwalk, IA native, Jaime Paca joined the Holland Farms team as Senior Living Consultant. In her role, Jaime works closely with families and residents who are considering making a move to Holland Farms, walking hand-in-hand through the process of choosing their potential new home.

Jaime has more than 20 years of sales experience, including 10 years working in medical and pharmaceutical sales. Through her experience, she was able to make connections with many seniors. This experience, combined with her love for her grandparents and an overall passion for assisting seniors, prompted her to make a career move to Agemark Senior Living.

Jaime and her son, Frank, make their home in Norwalk. She enjoys animals, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the Norwalk Warriors and reading historical mysteries.

Misty Alberigo

Director of Nursing

As our community’s Director of Nursing, Misty Alberigo is tasked with overseeing wellness personnel and ensuring the physical wellness of all Holland Farm’s residents. 

She began her career in healthcare at age 14, working first as a dietary aide in a long-term care facility, before serving roles as a CNA, LPN and RN. With well-rounded experience including stints in long-term care, home care, hospice, acute care, psychiatric, optometry and post-surgery, Misty offers a wonderful perspective. Seniors hold a special place in her heart, and she greatly enjoys building relationships with those in her care.

Born and raised in Iowa, Misty is a graduate of Des Moines Area Community College and Dallas Center-Grimes High School. She is married to Rich and has a daughter, Lyric. Together, the family enjoys spending time with their seven pets, kayaking, and traveling.  Music is a huge passion for Misty and she also enjoys attending concerts.

Sarah Chandler

Sales & Marketing Assistant

Sarah Chandler joined the Holland Farms team in June 2022 as the community’s Sales & Marketing Assistant. In her role, she plans and executes community marketing events and develops close relationships with prospects and families considering Holland Farms.

Sarah began her career in senior living in October 2020, and previously worked in the health care industry. She chose to join the Agemark family due to the warmth and kindness she experienced from the first moment she stepped through the community’s door. Her ability to create strong and meaningful connections with seniors makes her outstanding in her role. 

Sarah is a December 2018 graduate of Iowa State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis on Theatre Direction and Design. 

She and her fiancee live in West Des Moines. They, along with their dog and three cats enjoy spending time with family and friends. Sarah also enjoys painting and sewing.

Lacey May

Community Nurse

Lacey May joined team Holland Farms in the fall of 2022. A registered nurse with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, she brings experience in assisted living, urgent care, and a hospital setting to her role at Holland Farms. 

Her love for seniors began when she worked as a dietary aide throughout high school and college. She enjoys creating strong relationships with residents as well as their families and is committed to helping ensure residents of Holland Farms thrive in their homes. 

Lacey and her husband, Tyler, have four children: Kameron, Jada, Tynlie and Addison. The family enjoys traveling, sports, live music and spending time with their Aussiedoodle, Mabel.

Hannah Poortinga

HR Assistant

Hannah Poortinga is our community’s HR Assistant. She’s pleased to have a career in senior living and particularly enjoys helping employees and residents in her role. She enjoys the family atmosphere at Holland Farms.

Prior to working at Holland Farms, Hannah worked with Boys & Girls Club for three years. She also was employed at Friedrichs Coffee. 

Born and raised in Des Moines, Hannah enjoys playing and following sports in her free time.

Karin Price

Life Enrichment Coach - Memory Care

Karin Price joined our team as a Life Enrichment Coach in June 2022. In her role, she will primarily direct Life Enrichment for The Homestead, our memory care neighborhood. Karin will work to ensure the physical, spiritual, intellectual and social wellness of all residents in her care. 

Karin brings a variety of experiences to our community, including past roles as a Life Enrichment Coordinator in senior living, as well as a Child Educator, Freelance Artist, Production Assistant and a Paraeducator. She greatly enjoys working in senior living, and takes pride in the opportunity to create happiness for seniors in their last stages of life. She strives to help them feel purpose, personhood and dignity. 

A graduate of Nebraska-Wesleyan University, Karin earned a degree in Music with a minor in Communication. She is a certified Activity Director. She and her husband, Marcus, have three children: Lydia, Wesley and Flossie. Marcus is a band director for Ankeny Community Schools. The family has two hound dogs and as native Nebraskans, enjoy rooting for the Cornhuskers. In her free time, Karin enjoys cake decorating and other artistic and musical pursuits.

Katie Salinas

Memory Care Manager

Katie Salinas was promoted to Memory Care Manager in 2022. Previously, she was the Life Enrichment Coach for residents of The Homestead. In that role, she ensured that residents are participating in life-enriching activities which address their physical, social, spiritual and intellectual wellness. In her current position, she’s responsible for all oversight of The Homestead Memory Care.

Katie enjoys making connections with residents, and finds she’s learned many life lessons by spending time in the presence of seniors. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree from William Penn University and an associate’s degree from Iowa Central Community College. After graduation, she took a chance on a career in senior living, which she says is the “best decision she could’ve made”. Prior to joining the Holland Farms team, she was activities director at a senior living community in Indianola for three years. She enjoys being part of the Agemark Senior Living family of communities and feels that the family atmosphere and values they demonstrate are unmatched.

In her free time, she enjoys hiking and being outdoors.

Julie Smith

Life Enrichment Coach - Assisted Living

Julie Smith serves as the Life Enrichment Coach for Holland Farms. She works primarily with residents in assisted living.

Prior to coming to Holland Farms, she worked for three other senior living communities, all in activity and life enrichment roles. She truly enjoys serving seniors and bringing joy to their lives. She also loves working with the strong leadership team at Holland Farms to ensure all residents of the community experience fun and happiness each day. 

Julie earned a certification as an activity director from Des Moines Area Community College in 1998 and completed her MEPAP (a professional online course for activity professionals) in 2005.  

Julie and her husband, Wade have been married for more than 30 years. They have a son, Patrick and a daughter-in-law, Alexandria. Patrick and Alexandria are expecting their first child, a boy. Julie also enjoys spending time with her dog, Jilly, reading, and spending time with her mother. 

Teena Thomas

Dining Service Manager

Teena Thomas joined Holland Farms as Dining Service Manager in December 2022. She brings extensive experience in food service to our team. She spent seven years as a Culinary Director at two Iowa senior living communities and is well-versed in creating a culinary experience that will delight community residents. She chose to pursue a career in senior living because of the variety she finds in each day. She particularly enjoys growing and improving the operations in the kitchen.

Teena is a ServSafe Instructor and Proctor and is currently pursuing a Certified Dietary Manager Certification from the University of North Dakota. Additionally, before her time in senior living, she spent ten years in restaurant and hospitality as a General Manager with Bennett Enterprises. 

A native of Ohio, Teena has lived in Iowa for seven years. She and her boyfriend, Ryan, have five children, Gavin, Payton, Collin, Lily, and Addysen, and two grandchildren, Sophia and Lucas. In her spare time, Teena loves to travel and fish.
